What kind of trip is this?

This is not a coach group tour – it is yours. We organise everything: 2 nights in Moscow with a guided day, then the high-speed train to the Volga in about four hours, 4 nights in Nizhny Novgorod with four guided days, back to Moscow for 2 more nights with a second guided day – and the transfer to the airport at the end. Tours are guided in your language, five hours a day, privately and only for you. Arrival is always the second Sunday of the month.

Nizhny Novgorod was given an extensive facelift for its 800th anniversary in 2021 – the kremlin, riverside promenades and Chkalov Staircase now shine like new. Yet among Western travelers, the city remains a true insider tip: an authentic Russian metropolis, entirely free of tourist crowds.

Who is this trip for?

🧭You want more than the classics

You’ll take in Moscow – but you also want to see the Russia behind it: a genuine Volga metropolis with a kremlin, merchant mansions and sunsets over the river that hardly any Western tourist knows.

📅You want to decide when

No waiting for a group departure date: the trip starts every Monday, as soon as there are at least two of you – as a couple, with friends, or as a small private group with several rooms.

Frequently asked questions

When does the trip start – are there fixed dates?
No, that’s exactly what makes it special: the trip starts every Monday. You simply choose your departure day from the date list when booking (up to 12 months in advance, at least 3 weeks’ notice needed for the visa).
Why a minimum of 2 travelers – can I travel alone?
The trip runs from 2 travelers – for example, one double room or two single rooms with the same departure day. If you’d like to travel alone, contact us – we’re happy to put together an individual offer for you.
We’re a small group – how do we book?
Simply add several rooms with the same departure day to your cart: e.g. 2 double rooms for 4 people, or a double plus a single room for 3 people. From 6 people, it’s worth sending an inquiry – we’ll calculate an individual price.
How do I get to Russia – and do I need a visa?
You fly to Moscow independently (e.g. via Istanbul, Dubai or Belgrade) – returning from Moscow, or with the extension, from St. Petersburg. You’ll need a visa to enter; for most Western nationals, the e-visa is the easiest route, and we guide you step by step through our booking portal.
What’s the best time to travel?
May to September is ideal: excursion boats run on the Volga, the riverside promenades are full of life, and in St. Petersburg the Peterhof fountains are flowing. In June you’ll also experience the White Nights there. But the golden autumn on the Volga has its own charm too – the trip runs year-round.
How does the St. Petersburg extension work?
Simply add it as an option when booking. Instead of heading home on day 9, you take the high-speed train to St. Petersburg: 3 nights with guided tours (Hermitage, Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood, canal cruise, seasonally Peterhof), with your flight home then departing from St. Petersburg.
What happens after booking?
You’ll get access to your personal travel portal “My Trip”: there we guide you through the deposit, travel dates and e-visa – and you can check your booking status at any time. We’re personally available for any questions.
What currency do I pay in?
Prices are calculated in Russian rubles. You pay the deposit conveniently in euros (PayPal or bank transfer), and the remaining balance is billed at the current exchange rate – transparently shown in your booking portal.
Still have questions about the trip?

Write to us – we reply personally, usually within a few hours.
